They were all over the news. The ice caves that formed on Lake Erie along the shoreline of Crystal Beach. The waves that washed upon those humongous rocks didn’t stand a chance. Falling icy snow pellets, ferocious winds howling around for what seemed like days on end, small snow storms, big snow storms and constant deep freezing temperatures, were all elements of Mother Nature that made the shores of Lake Erie look like a frozen tundra with patches of little igloo-like structures popping up. Mother Nature at times can definitely be awe-inspiring.
Naturally, Nat and I had to check this phenomenon out. A lot of folks around here are thinking this may be a once-in-a-lifetime, as they’ve never seen the likes of this before. We tended to agree. So we headed out to vote in our little by-election (hoping to kick out old Dalton McGinty’s party of mischievous makers), and along with another errand at the drug store, we made a morning of it. As we arrived we could see a few families already out walking around the actual frozen lake, with their children nestled in little bob-sleds all bundled up and cozy, along with amateur photographers snapping away. We joined them and this is what we saw:-
